You definitely liked the canceled LG Rollable

LG was forced to cancel its Rollable phone after the company pulled out of the smartphone business, but that didn’t stop a Korean YouTube channel from getting a unit and reviewing the device.

The LG Rollable certainly seemed like a pretty cool product in the video review, but what Android Authority do readers think? We posed this question in our news article covering the review last week.

What do you think of the LG Rollable?

Just over 1,000 votes have been counted at the time of writing, and we have a runaway winner on our hands. A whopping 80.19% of respondents said they liked the LG Rollable. A few readers noted in the comments that this form factor looks better than foldable phone form factors.

Otherwise, 15.85% of surveyed readers felt the rollable phone was just “okay”. We can see why people would vote for this option, as the screen in particular definitely seems like a first-gen effort. For example, there are a lot of highlights and you can even make out a few wrinkles.

Finally, 3.96% of respondents said they hated the canceled phone. We haven’t seen any reviews reflecting this stance, but we suspect the exposed plastic OLED display raises questions about durability. This is on top of the aforementioned screen glare and wrinkles.

  • Tennis enthusiast: If LG could have stuck with this form factor, I think it would have been the perfect way to use a foldable OLED right now. I would get this form factor on the fold or the flip.
  • Commentator: Looks very interesting, I think it would have been a success, more attractive than the fold & flip models offered
  • serge office: Much more interesting than folding and turning, it’s much better!
  • meh…: This would have been an antidote to LG’s problems in the market, but they decided to cut the bait instead of trying this as a Hail Mary. What a pity.
  • Farhan Ahmad Tajouddine: I definitely like this idea much more than the foldable screen. Not only are you crease-free, but you can roll the screen down to legitimate tablet size. If I really want to have a smartphone as a replacement for the tablet, the foldable screen is not it. The roll-up screen definitely is.
