Victor Kleemann on securing an EMX250 ride – KMP Honda!

The Kleemann brothers have been in the GP paddock for a few years but they both have a new challenge for the 2022 season. After it was confirmed that William has signed with Riley Racing Yamaha, Victor revealed he has secured a ride with the KMP Honda team to compete in the EMX250 series.

After many years as a privateer, it’s nice to see the two brothers supported by a team and the young Danes hope to reward their new teams with good results.

We caught up with Victor to discuss his deal with KMP Honda and more.

How did the deal go with the team…

I got in touch with the KMP team manager through my coach, and went to talk to the team and immediately felt very comfortable. I really like their structure and work ethic in the team and we have all agreed to work together for 2022.

How it feels to secure an emx250 lathe…

It’s amazing to finally have the EMX racing support I’ve needed for so long. Doing it as a privateer was good, but there was a lot of stress between the motos with the bike work, gear prep and recovery. I really think now it will be a little less hectic so I can recover a little better between the bikes and the atmosphere will be a little lighter, I think that will bring me closer to achieving my goals and my performance for 2022 .

After years of being a privateer, this must be a huge weight on your shoulders…

As I said before, it will make the atmosphere much lighter. We used to be a team of two riders with my dad as the mechanic who did everything on the bikes on race day and rode thousands of miles to the races and my mom cooked all the food so we could do well performing and helping wherever help was needed, so it was a big family effort. It’s been very hectic and stressful at times, but it’s something I loved doing with my whole family and definitely something I’ll miss in some way. But for the last two EMX rounds we had a second mechanic and that helped tremendously, stress levels went down so we could focus more on ourselves as riders and it was all a lot more fun because of the extra time we had. So I think next year will be really good under these conditions.

Expectations of the season…

My expectations for this next season are quite high, I really liked where I ended 2021 and with the preparation and steps I’m taking in 2022 to be able to do good, it allows me to work as hard as other riders pro mx. So I’m looking forward to this next season and I really want to get good results on paper.

Someone to thank and something else to add…

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to my parents for letting me pursue my dream as a professional athlete. I want to thank all of my mx coaches for believing in me and going out of their way to help me on my journey! I would like to thank my mental coach for all the hours of work we have done together in 2021! And I want to say a big thank you to the KMP guys for giving me the opportunity to be part of their team for 2022. And to everyone who supports me, believes in me and helps me, thank you!
