Troy Dog’s Shack: Team ends series strong at Fox Raceway

Listen, I know you’re probably blown away by Troy Dog Squad’s content right now. [Slaw Note: We are], since we just had an update last week heading to Ironman. However, I, Troy Dog, CEO of vurbmoto, support my ELITE athletes so much that I have decided to see them both again now. We have some new scenarios to cover with AEO Powersports KTM rider Derek Kelley and Merge Racing/Troy Dog Vurb’s Grant Harlan, so let’s get to it.

Derek Kelley currently lives in California, so as far as I’m concerned, this is a home run for him. I’ll be honest with you though: I don’t know much about him yet, but if you live in California, Fox Raceway is our track. What better way to get your career best? Kelley went 38-11 at Ironman and if he hadn’t had that mechanic in the first run, I think he would have been very close to his first top 10 overall. He was about to do his charge at the front when he had the problem. That 11th in the second run was great redemption for the guy who happily wears my sticker on his helmet.

Let’s take a look at DK Dog’s first round score from Fox Raceway where he went 14-19 for 16th overall. Kelley improves as the season progresses and he progresses into the 250 class. More often than not, he is the top privateer in the class. Now talking to more than one source I hear these AEO bikes are really good but it’s not a factory bike and generally the stigma is that you can’t race factory guys without factory bike. Well, DK Dog proves that wrong. I’m sure we’ll see Kelley get his first top 10 overall of his career and it’s something he’s been trying so hard to do all summer.

Originally, Grant Harlan wasn’t going to race at Fox Raceway. In fact, until he did so well at Ironman, he told me he wasn’t going to make the trip. After an incredible performance in his best race of the season with 16-14 moto scores for 15th overall in a loaded 450 class, Harlan is in California. We’re also getting some extra help this week! Help comes from more members of the sports media. Mike Brown finalist in the 40+ category at Loretta Lynn, Kris Keefer is a BIG reason Har Dog runs. Yes, that’s right, Keefer Inc. provides a CRF450 for Fox Raceway.

#House. Har Dog is back on red for now and maybe next year too. Vital MX also helps Harlan find housing. Vital Jamie helps with training and I have never been so confused. To add to this media collaboration, Harlan was at the PulpMX Show on Monday (thanks Matthes, I’ll stop bothering you with that…for now).

If you keep score, that makes his effort a Merge Racing/Troy Dog Vurb/Keefer Inc./Vital MX-NOT Vital Jamie/Honda. I hope Har Dog is enjoying the High Dez experience to the full right now. I know they rode Glen Helen on Thursday.

Other than that, I don’t really know what to expect this weekend. I have complete faith in my guys as always. The weather is going to be the most intense variable this week because it will be 105° or more at the time of the race. I know that my two runners are in good shape and that they know how to suffer. I know Har Dog can suffer more than anyone in the 450 class as he likes to remind me every once in a while. Stay hydrated boys, let’s finish this year strong!
