Road tax, huh. I imagine we’ll still be talking about it on the live blog in 2050…

At this point the technology will probably be so advanced that we’ll download the blog right into your mind (it’ll save you having to read my ramblings) and yet someone out there will almost certainly keep talking about cyclists paying the road tax…

Today’s example is funnier than the usual angry keyboard warrior responding to an outrageous police tweet telling them to watch out for cyclists. It involves a poll, because if there’s one thing Britain loves, it’s a yes/no vote…

Susan felt she would have told people – “As cyclists have more priority on the roads. I ask, should they pay road tax or at least some kind of insurance? (This would only be for public roads, not country parks or the like).

Now, you’ve probably already seen the result of said poll above, but for some reason, we don’t think it went as Susan intended. I say this because he has now been deleted and his account has become private…

The result? 7 percent in favor of a road tax for cyclists or some kind of insurance, 92 percent against and 1 percent for a road tax only or uncertain.

There may be a second vote…

It’s time to react… Tim kicks us off with an old favourite…
