Pilsen Food Pantry hands out bikes, scooters and helmets to children during Saturday’s Spring Movement event

PILSEN – Families can pick up a free bike or scooter and other accessories for their children at an event this weekend.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 1850 S. Throop St. Children must be present to receive one of 150 bikes, tricycles or scooters, according to a flyer. There will also be helmets, balls, Frisbees, jump ropes and more, as well as bike safety education.

The event is organized by the Pilsen Food Pantry.

Volunteers volunteered their time to repair bikes, trikes and scooters in February and March and to collect donations of helmets, organizers said.
