We have another amazing competition from our good friends at the Rider Firm; owners of Hunt Bike Wheels and Privateer Bikes. This time it’s Cairn Cycles giving away an amazing BRAVe 2.0 flat-bar gravel bike to a very lucky reader just in time for summer gravel adventures and long nights getting lost in the woods.
Cairn describes the BRAVe as a “Gravel Bike, rigid mountain bike, monster cross, touring bike, back country or gravduro bike“We reviewed BRAVE 1.0 drop bar version of this bike in September and Matt was very positive about the bike’s downhill ability, feeling that it felt more like a mountain bike, while also being impressed with its reach and ability to carry a lot of equipment for these adventures.
Here’s what Matt said to sum up the BRAVe 1.0
“The Cairn BRAVe impressed not only with the motor and assist on offer, but even more so with the bike’s geometry and capabilities. While the downtube battery would normally mean fewer mounting options, Cairn has added more, and combined with the generous battery, it creates a truly capable adventure e-bike that is currently, at least, lacking on the market..” High praise indeed.
Well, lucky for you, we’re offering a BRAVe 2.0 which is the flat-bar version of the bike Matt tested, which should provide an even more thrilling off-road mountain biking experience. while still being more than capable of carrying all your gear. As it’s fitted with a Shimano Steps E7000 motor and the same 630 Wh battery as the drop bar version, the BRAVe 2.0 can take on long off-road adventures in its stride.
Here’s Cairn to tell us more about the design and features of the BRAVe:
BRAVe 2.0 takes the comfort, control, and ample tire clearance of mountain bikes while bringing the cargo capacity, flexibility, and efficiency of gravel bikes. The result? An electric bike that can handle all your adventures.
The Cairn BRAVe features a balanced geometry that wouldn’t feel out of place on a mountain or gravel bike. Compared to a gravel bike, it’s slacker and longer, which brings better stability and control, while keeping the steering manageable for fully loaded days. Shorter seat tubes, taller stack height and 29 x 2.5 tire clearance increase comfort to “couch by the fire” level. The larger tire width, combined with more controllable 60nm torque from the Shimano E7000 system and 180mm disc rotors, combine to keep you upright and in control on the trail.
No matter how or where you ride, the BRAVe has a ton of useful everyday features that make it possible. The semi-integrated 630wh external battery is hard to ignore, but makes room for frame bags, plus seamless removal and massive range. Locations for mounting bottle cages and gear are evident throughout the frame. We have 5 different locations, with 14 bosses to mount all those big needs. Boost hub spacing makes huge tire clearance possible and a lowered fork bridge maintains fender compatibility
