Colwyn Bay paddleboard shop expands to offer lessons and demos

A PADDLEBOARDING business based on the Colwyn Bay promenade has celebrated a recent expansion which coincides with one year since its inception.

‘Môr’, which also sells a variety of essentials for a day at the sea, as well as bodyboards, surfboards and skateboards, has now moved to one of Porth Eirias’ former conference rooms.

It now also hosts SUP (stand-up paddleboard) lessons and Demo Days, where you can try before you buy, and take advantage of the first “Demo Days” on May 6 and 7, coinciding with the Prom event Xtra from Colwyn Bay.

All of its classes are taught by qualified Water Skills Academy instructors.

John Burke, company founder, said: “It has been an exciting process of expansion, and we have also brought on some fantastic new members to the team.

“Working alongside our friends at Sports Conwy, Evolution Bike and Bryn Williams, we hope this place will become a hub for all sports enthusiasts and beach users.

“We also look forward to welcoming whoever will take the tender to offer sailing and other activities in the near future.

“We pride ourselves on our friendly and open approach – our staff are experienced in a variety of different water sports and can offer advice if you need it.

“Porth Eirias is also a waste collection centre, and we would encourage anyone wishing to borrow some of the kit to come say hello or ask one of the council staff in the building.

“We like to keep in touch with local charities where we can, as quite often they offer invaluable advice to watersports users that we seek to pass on, whether it’s RNLI safety advice, environmental advice from the Marine Conservation Society, North Wales Wildlife Trust and the Seal Alliance.

The shop also sells essentials/spares including carbon and fiberglass paddles, fins, electric pumps and leashes.

It is aimed at wild swimmers, stand up paddlers and other water sports enthusiasts and beach goers.

Its brands include Peak UK, JOBE, Gill, Slowtide, Swimbler, Aqua Marina, Shark, Gladiator Paddleboards, Yak, Tiki, SOLA, Northcore and many more.

Its summer hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
